Located at Uphill Quarry near Weston-Super-Mare, the abseil descends the smooth limestone face of the quarry, with views across the surrounding nature reserve and towards the historic 12th-century chapel above the cliff.

A basic level of fitness is sufficient, although participants must be able to walk to the top of the quarry unaided.
Your instructor will manage the technical safety systems and guide you through what you need to know.

We'll meet you at Uphill Quarry, introduce you to the experience and talk you through what to expect.
2. Get Kitted Up
We'll provide the technical safety equipment you need, including a helmet and harness, and make sure everything fits correctly.
3. Learn the Basics
Your instructor will explain the abseiling system, safety procedures and what you need to do during the descent.
4. Take The Big Step
Then comes the moment you've been waiting for.
Step over the edge and begin your 150ft descent down Uphill Quarry.

The Big One is an outdoor experience, so conditions can affect whether it is safe to operate.
If poor weather means your session cannot go ahead, we'll notify participants 72 hours before the experience and offer an alternative date.
